Credit card interest calculator.
A credit card interest and payment calculator: what a carried balance actually costs per day, month and year, plus the monthly payment that clears it in 6, 12, 24, 36 or 48 months and the interest each timeline adds.
Fixed payment and total interest for each payoff timeline.
| Paid off in | Monthly payment | Total interest | Total paid |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 months | $895.12 | $371 | $5,371 |
| 12 months | $475.20 | $702 | $5,702 |
| 24 months | $266.83 | $1,404 | $6,404 |
| 36 months | $198.77 | $2,156 | $7,156 |
| 48 months | $165.76 | $2,956 | $7,956 |
The math.
Daily rate = APR ÷ 365. Daily interest = balance × daily rate. Your statement multiplies that by the days in the cycle, using your average daily balance rather than the closing balance, which is why paying mid-cycle reduces the charge a little.
Purchase, cash advance and balance transfer APRs are usually different; cash advances typically carry the highest rate and no grace period. Use the purchase APR here unless most of your balance is something else.
Cut the cost.

Ask for a lower rate
A call to the issuer with a good payment history often works. Even a few points changes the daily figure. - [ 02 ]
Pay early in the cycle
Interest is on the average daily balance, so paying on day 5 instead of day 25 saves real money. - [ 03 ]
Pick a fixed payment
The table above shows what each timeline costs. Choose one and automate it. - [ 04 ]
Order the cards
Highest rate first saves the most. The avalanche calculator does the ordering.
